Cutting their itsy bitsy teeny tiny … but deathly sharp fingernails.
OK, so there are a lot of worst parts about being a new mom… but there are also a lot of wonderful things, so we forgive and forget about the awful parts. But I think we can all agree the worst part about being a new mom is cutting their fingernails.
While I feed her she flails her tiny hands up and rips her fingernails into my skin like she is trying to carve her name.
The books say the best time to cut her nails is while she is sleeping… but then if you make one wrong move she’s awake and you can say goodbye to nap time.
Mom forums swear by biting their nails. Sorry if you do this but … no. I can’t even bite my own nails… just no.
I’ve read about using scissors, adult clippers, baby powder or clipping while breast feeding – none which I have tried.
They grow like weeds thanks to my prenatal vitamins, so I feel like it’s an uphill battle that I am always losing at.
And yes if you are wondering we have accidentally cut Lottie’s skin and that doesn’t make us bad parents, just normal.

I can’t do it. I file. I’m an emory-board-only type of mom. Unfortunately trying to file down daggers takes a few hours and requires her to sit still that long, which never happens.
