Josh and I headed off to New York City for a week getaway in the big city! I love NYC in the fall, the leaves are changing colors and the hustle and bustle of the year end is everywhere. This was a particularly busy weekend with the NYC Marathon and Halloween weekend.
I imagined pregnancy to be a lot worse. When you read a lot of baby blogs you read about being bloated, wanting to throw up, increased fluids of all kinds, and incredibly sore boobs. I realize that this happens to a lot of women and maybe I am just one of the exceptions, but I have felt great. I guess im writing this for the women who are trying to conceive, it doesn’t have to be endless trips to the bathroom and you don’t necessarily feel instantly fat all the time. Take care of your body, eat healthy, keep moving and your body will hopefully thank you and respond with an easy pregnancy.
It took me awhile to come to this conclusion. My bodies ‘no symptom’ approach to pregnancy actually worried me a lot (and still does a bit) because with the crazy amount of changes I know are going on in my body, I feel there should be more pain and suffering. I can’t believe that my uterus can be doubling and my baby growing, developing bones and facial features with mommy not feeling it. Our bodies are crazy things, and I have to trust that everything is going A-OK in there until my next appointment!

Best moment of the week: Walking around NYC all weekend, not touching our computers. If you know me, you realize how near impossible it is to keep Josh and I away from our computers for even 24 hours, but we both signed offline for 3 days and it was an awesome and relaxing 3 days!
Epiphany of the week: I am not superwoman. I am bad at slowing down, my adrenaline takes over and I go, go, go. I am starting to realize that a 9 pm bedtime is perfectly fine!
Obsessions/Cravings? Pho. It started with meeting my sister at a Thai restaurant nearby and ever since then I have been craving Vietnamese pho, within the last week I have sought out Thai Noodle Soup and Pho in NYC!
What I’m most looking forward to this week: Getting through the first trimester. I know I am only a month away, but for whatever reason I want to get past this first 13 weeks and hopefully get over this constant feeling of exhaustion!
What I miss the most: I missed coffee the most this week. One of our favorite things to do as we travel is taste the different coffees in different coffee shops. NYC is a mecca of craft coffee and I had to sit by while Josh drank coffee after coffee and I watched with my water bottle in hand 🙂
Symptoms: My symptoms were pretty nice to me this week – I felt great. My boobs aren’t hurting but they are definitely getting in the way more as the grow… which im sure Josh doesn’t mind at all. Still going to bed at 9pm and peeing 9 million times during the day and night – but that is probably old news by now!

OK, we gotta hit the pho place in downtown Westfield, when you’re up for it, if the craving continues. I haven’t been yet, but want to try it before it disappears.
