We had our 28 week appointment this week. This one was longer than most since I had to do more than just pee in a cup and give my blood pressure. After chugging what tasted like a super sugary gatorade and waiting an hour, I went in to test for gestational diabetes and re test my thyroid numbers since they have been out of whack recently. The nurse had 5 – 6 empty vials, which I was convinced was to take every woman’s blood who was in the doctors office at the time. Nope. They were all for me. Lucky me. After her taking out 5 vials I asked to make sure she was leaving some blood in me to take home with me.
Coming from someone who use to pass out constantly when I got my blood drawn I am pretty proud of how I’ve been handling needles so far with this pregnancy. I give a lot of my success to Josh, he does an excellent job of distracting me while the blood is leaving me.
The appointment went well, Baby E is maintaining a 143 heartbeat and measuring on track based on their basic measurements they do. After my doc is done doing her thing, I go ahead and ask my random questions to the doctor, like what is baby doing in there and how can I stop their hiccups because they are getting pretty annoying for mama, and then they send me on my way.
Insomnia kicked in a few nights this week and I was up all night, luckily i’m not alone. Baby E uses the nights between 10 pm and 5 am to get their workouts in. They are kicking, rolling and headbumping mama all night. I figure E is preparing me for the sleepless nights I have ahead 🙂
The best news of the week is BABY NIX was born on Friday March 21! I guess I dont have to call him Baby Nix anymore, he is Charles Matthew Nix and I LOVE him so much already! He had a rough welcome into the world, but he is so strong and has been doing awesome in the past few days. I can’t wait to meet him and give him lots of cuddles! The pic below is of the proud parents and two of my favorites!
I got to celebrate another baby who will be joining us in a month at my friend Lauren’s baby shower. We finally got to figure out the babies gender – She’s having a GIRL! This is the first girl baby, so far 5 -6 of my friends are all having boys! I am surrounded by babies and bellies right now and it is wonderful 🙂
Our Baby class this week was all about pain management, epidurals and spinals. I’m still one of those crazy moms who wants to try to go all natural, but it was nice to hear if I did need some pain management what to expect and what my options are. It was especially interesting to hear them walk us through what happens with a c section so if we do end up in an emergency type of situation I will know what to expect.
Size of Baby E: Head of Cabbage
Best moment of the week: Welcoming Charlie Nix into the world! Baby E’s new playdate or prom date – we still are waiting to find out!
Obsessions/Cravings? Goldfish – the baked saltiness is just what this mama needed this week!
What I’m most looking forward to this week: Seeing Charlie Nix got Josh and I more than excited than ever to meet Baby E! The entire process of a woman growing a little human in her belly is amazing and I can’t wait until we get to meet our new addition!!
What I miss the most: I miss my closet. I miss being able to walk into my closet and put anything on. Im down to a rotation of 5 – 6 outfits, luckily as a trainer a lot of my clothes are stretchy, but I’m starting to get limited on that.
Workouts: Running and strength training, but slower and much more out of breath than before.
Sleep: … Insomnia this week kicked in. I lay in bed most nights wide awake feeling Baby E move.
Movement: E is flipping and flopping all over the place. Super active babe, moves around like he can’t get comfortable, which I don’t blame them I don’t like small spaces either.
Symptoms: Bending over is getting difficult, not so much a symptom – just annoying 🙂
