Marathon Training
- You build up your endurance over 10 months for the big event
- You buy all the right gear: new running shoes, running clothes, water bottles, etc.
- You start hanging out in running groups and meeting other serious runners to help you along with your training
- You read books and blogs on tips to best succeed during the marathon
- You know the 26 miles will be painful, but you also know crossing the finish line will be more than worth it
Pregnancy
- You build up your endurance over 10 months for the big event
- You buy all the right gear: new crib, stroller, baby clothes, etc.
- You start hanging out in mommy groups and meeting other parents who can help you along with your new stage of life
- You read books and blogs on tips to best get your baby to sleep through the night
- You know the 12 hours of labor will be excruciating, but you know that the moment you see your baby it will all be worth it
So, you see how similar the two are?
When trying to explain to my husband (who is the most caring and understanding man in the world) exactly how mentally exhausting the last weeks of pregnancy are, this is the only example I could come up with…
Imagine this:
You spend 10 months training for a marathon. You spend 10 months picturing yourself crossing the finish line, getting your diet perfect, cross training, practicing for the big day… but they don’t tell you when the actual race is. It could be within a months timespan… so every day… for 4 weeks… you wake up and wonder am i going to have to run 26 miles today?

I’m not a runner- but this is a great analogy!!
