Let’s relate this to the last 9 months of the Pandemic.
So much change has hit our kids and they are looking at you to confirm that the plane isn’t going down. 2020 has tested all of our limits, but we will get through this together. Life will look different and none of this is easy, but there is a 2021, and a 2022 in our future. You understand all of this, but your kids don’t, they need you.
You’re the flight attendant. You have the ability to stay calm and help your kids feel safe. The way you speak about the pandemic, your kids school, and friends matters. Assume that your kids are always listening.
Your kids are the passengers. They are living in constant uncertainty and are reading into every facial expression you have. They are anxious about if and when their life will return back to normal. They need you to remind them it will be ok.
“Stay calm and serve the freaking peanuts.”
And if you have time read Glennon’s book Untamed – it’s real good.
