2020 is now part of us.
A year that we’ll carry with us. It’s part of our kid’s childhood, one that they will tell stories about. I hope we never take for granted casually hanging out with our friends in person and seeing family over the holidays. I will never forget the importance of our teachers and how much they do and care about our kids.
I hope we keep supporting our small and local businesses and the employees and workers that depend on showing up to work everyday. I hope we remember healthcare workers and how in 2020 they showed up every day fighting to save lives. I hope we start caring about our neighbors more.
I hope the conversation and action on the inequality in our country continues to improve. I hope we all regularly check our privilege and look outside our bubble and get involved in creating change. I hope we speak up more instead of looking the other way. I hope we put ourselves in other’s shoes more often.
I hope we don’t go back to normal. This year rocked us and normal isn’t what we need. We need better. We need to take what we learned while our world was shut down and show up better.
I hope that 2020 slowed you down and gave you the time to reflect on what’s really important, where you’re putting your time and money and who you’re spending it with.
