I am always on the go. Especially now with 2, I feel like it’s an event getting out of the house every day and a success if I don’t forget anything. (props to moms with 3+ kids ever leaving the house!)
Breakfast is always a thing. I am feeding Henry, which keeps me stuck on the couch for at least 15 min since I’m still breastfeeding, and Lottie wants pancakes… no she wants yogurt.. no she wants oatmeal. She doesn’t know what she wants, but I guarantee whatever I give her she will want the opposite and she wants it NOW.
I believe in not skipping breakfast, but that also means that I have to get creative with healthy quick breakfasts for when we are on the go in the summer.
My solution? Smoothies.
I especially love Bob’s Red Mill Nutritional Boosters to add a yummy and healthy touch to my morning smoothies.
Most days I’ll add the protein powder to a smoothie and drink it while I feed little man, or add it to my oatmeal or smoothie bowl to give me a protein boost at the start of the day. What I love most is I can throw it all into my blender, blend, and then give it to Josh, Lottie and myself. Breakfast done by pressing one button! That is my kind of breakfast!
#SummerStrong Smoothie for Mom’s On the Go
It doesn’t have a fancy name, or complicated ingredients it is truly a smoothie for moms who are living in the glorious chaos of summer! Don’t over think your smoothie. Use whatever veggies or fruit are in your fridge and get creative. Here is my basic guideline for a delicious summer smoothie to keep you and your family healthy!
1 Cup of Frozen Fruit *I try to keep strawberries, raspberries & blueberries in my freezer
1 Banana
1 Cup Almond Milk *If you like sweeter smoothies you can add some Calcium rich OJ
10 – 15 baby carrots * I don’t really count out the carrots, I just usually dump a bunch in my blender.
1/3 C Bob’s Red Mill Protein & Fiber Nutritional Booster * I also use the Vanilla and Chai options, Josh loves the chocolate. Try them all and use what you like best!
Spinach – I also don’t measure this, I usually just fill the blender to the top after adding all of the above ingredients and blend!
I am usually working with whatever is in my refrigerator and freezer, and want to encourage you to not stress over your morning smoothie. I’ve had some big successes and failures when it comes to experimenting with smoothies, but even my least delicious ones are still jam-packed full of healthy ingredients.
Blend and Drink.
Don’t forget to share with your littles! It is a great way to get them some extra protein, veggies and fruits in their day.
