I love to write. I love sitting down at the computer and letting all my thoughts pour onto the page. I love the emails and messages from readers who let me know they are going through the same thing or share similar feelings. I love the discussions that come with everyone having different opinions and experiences. I love all of it.
If you’ve followed my blogs for the last few years, Traveling 9 to 5 and here at Caffeinated Chaos you will notice one constant theme, there hasn’t been any writing.
I could give you excuses like I’m working 15 – 20 hours a week, doing distance learning with three kids under 6, and spending all my free time having fun with my family. I’m also exercising and cooking and doing all of the life things that keep us moving forward. And travel, I’ve always had a love of travel that keeps me planning trips. But if I told you that’s why I’m not writing, those would all be excuses.
Real talk is that I’ve always struggled with censoring myself. After 10 years of writing publicly I’ve questioned why I’ve taken a step back for the last few years, and the honest truth is I overthink all of it. I begin to write and I start thinking about everyone who’s reading it and everyone who disagrees with my thoughts and whos feelings I’m hurting, or the people who want to argue just to argue. I overthink the business SEO side of it and the pictures I use… and more than ever in today’s climate how everything has become completely polarized, it sucked the joy of writing out of me.
After quarantining and soul-searching I’m back.
I hope everyone reading this understands that I’m sharing my opinions and views and no one is forcing you to read my posts. Unsubscribe at any time or if you like what you read share it with someone you think it will help inspire.
I’m going to keep writing about everything that drives me crazy. I’m going to write about everything that makes me angry. I’m going to write about what brings me joy. I’m going to write about everything that makes me laugh out loud. I’m going to write about the great workouts I do, the delicious recipes I make and all the adventures my kids and I go on. Every time I write a post I don’t write it for the masses, I write it for that one or two people who need to hear it.
That’s what drives my writing. The idea that an article I write might help one person get through their day easier, or might help one person see life differently.
In summary, I’m going to keep writing and un-censoring. Stay tuned.
