We started baby led weaning with Lottie Rose at 6 months. Her first foods were avocados, apples and sweet potatoes – now onto green beans and pears!
I steamed the green beans and the pear I simply cut off the skin. I used fresh green beans from the market and let the pear ripen a bit so it was softer. She began with the green beans and was easily able to pick them up and start noming on them!
She was a little suspicious of the flavor at first…
… but after a few chews she was loving green beans!
Next she took on the pears. Without the skin on the pears, they were much more difficult for her to hold on to. They slipped around, split in two and left her a little skeptical on the texture, but overall she loved them!
The pears were very ripe so they easily broke into chunks as she ate them, which caused Lottie to gag a bit. At first the gagging scared me (and it still does a bit) but I know its a natural reflex and its good she practices and it keeps her from choking, but boy it is hard to watch!
Overall green beans and pears were a success!
What are other foods did you start your 6 month old on?
