Our 34 week appointment this week went great. I was supposed to meet the last doctor in the group, but he was out-of-town last-minute so I met with the nurse practitioner again (who I really like so it worked out great)! From here on out it’s only meeting with my msin Doctor and I start going every week at 36 weeks.
I feel like I am getting to that point where I am done being pregnant and I am more excited than ever to meet this little person inside of me.
Most exciting news of the week was my best friend Amanda introduced her adorable new addition to her family, Brooks William. Josh and I of course jumped in our car and drove to Chicago the next day to get early newborn cuddles!
Josh and I have started to do a lot more talking and planning for this upcoming birth (well as much as you can plan). He is out-of-town for 4 days in May but luckily its early enough that I’m not worried about going into labor that early. We talk a lot about ‘what if’ and ‘when this happens’ and what our life will look like here in a month. #bigchanges
We began to pack for the hospital.. but not really… I got a bag out and threw some Pajamas in it. I’m such a last-minute type of person it’s hard to pre plan and think ahead, but I don’t want to be caught going into labor with nothing prepared.. so I’ll get around to that in a few weeks. I want our bags packed before Josh leaves for Miami because I do feel when he gets back we start countdown mode.
Since we are now within weeks of meeting this baby, we have started talking about birth stuff… who’s in the room, what to expect and any questions we need to ask the doctor about before labor.
I am still planning on going natural… pending any medical mishaps. As a trainer I’m always aware of my body and control of my muscles and it makes me nervous to think during one of the most physically demanding events your body will go through, you don’t feel anything. I know it will be awfully painful… but there is a part of me that knows the pain will be over with and I trust my body was made to go through this – so we will see! I’ve trained for the last 9 months for this.. and am ready for a marathon! That being said I am not trying to be superwoman or win any awards. If for some reason I need the pain relief I know it’s there.
Movements are getting fun because I’m starting to feel a big butt moving from one side of my stomach to the other – or an occasional hand punching my obliques – or toes dragging across my stomach. It definitely feels like there is a little guy…or girl in there and it makes me anticipate more than ever what they will look like and when we will get to meet them!
My family baby shower was so much fun this week. It was UP themed and all about Josh and my next big adventure! It was perfect. The room was decorated with maps and fun UP quotes. The games played with the travel theme for example, matching the name with the correct country it came from, and the desserts were delicious! Baby E and I felt extremely blessed and loved! I’m more excited than ever to meet this little person!
Size of Baby E: Somewhere between 17 – 18 inches long and 4.5 – 5 lbs.
Best moment of the week: Holding Brooks Rohr in Chicago!
Obsessions/Cravings? Nothing new or too crazy this week – just hungry!
What I’m most looking forward to this week: Our last shower is next weekend! We will do a last check of what we need for baby and then we will be ready!
What I miss the most: Honestly I don’t miss anything this week (other than the normal list of my body, my clothes, my wine, my coffee etc) I am mostly looking forward to all the good things coming up in the next weeks and am excited!
Workouts: Run/Walk this week. Definitely slowing down but still moving!
Sleep: Sleep for a few hours a night and then wide awake the rest. Mini migraines teamed with restless legs and constant urges to pee keeps me busy. Who has time for sleep!
Movement: This was a fun week for movement. I vividly remember feeling toes drag across my stomach or elbows and hands poke me in my sides. Seeing Brooks made me realize that there is a little person in there and it makes me so excited to meet them every time they move! (Can I mention in this post how excited I am more)
Symptoms: The headaches are coming back, im getting them more in the middle of the night and they stick with me until I get up in the AM. I pulled out the foam roller so I am trying to do more massage work with my hips and sore muscles to help with the pain.
