The weeks are flying by now (as if they weren’t already). I’m counting down the last 7 weeks, which sounds like a lot – but I know are short and precious. More than ever, I can’t wait to meet this new babe (and to know if we’re getting a girl or a boy!), but I also am treasuring my last weeks as a family of 3.
Lottie and I have our rhythm down during the day. We have an understanding when we go out together and we have so much fun with it being just the two of us. We don’t struggle with tantrums (most the time), she is a happy girl and is at the point where we are starting to communicate, which is a whole new level of fun. I know I’ll grow a new heart for this new one, but for the moment let me be a little hesitant to lose the just me and her times.
Let’s first start by talking about bathing suit shopping at 33 weeks pregnant… aka “bad idea”
I decided at some point it would be a great idea to sign Lottie up for swim lessons before the summer, which means I have to dive in with her and jump around in the water singing “If you’re happy and you know it, kick your feet” 50 times.
Great thinking Caroline.
Anyways I am in search of a bathing suit that is appropriate to run after a toddler in, that I won’t fall out of or offend anyone with my every growing belly. Apparently my previously worn bikinis don’t fit the bill now a days… and I know with nursing it’s not going to get any better soon.
So there I was today in a dressing room trying on bathing suit after bathing suit, trying to find a style that was a balance between appropriate, comfortable and didn’t make me look like a cow. Failure. All it did was send me home empty-handed to eat cookies that my parents had earlier dropped over while I watched the most recent episode of Jane the Virgin.
On another fun and equally not-fun note…
We potty trained last weekend – (The full weekend recap on potty training my 21 month year old will be up soon – get excited)
Overall I’m more than happy with how it went, I know we are only at the beginning, but havent had an accident in a week (well poop is a different story and work in progress) but we are peeing regularly on the toilet now! Go Lottie! We’ve left the house multiple times and gone to daycare all with zero accidents. I never realized how stressful it was to release your toddler into the world undiapered. Terrifying.
It was a long weekend of camping out in our playroom and taking very frequent potty breaks, but the 4 day potty training method worked for us thankfully!
My emotions are starting to kick in. With my first pregnancy the entire 9 months were an emotional roller coaster – Josh can vouch for this. I was angry, sad, happy and tired all in a 10 minute window. This time around I haven’t had the crazy emotional swings, but recently I’ve been more emotional when it comes to crying about sweet things Josh or Lottie will do. I’ll look over and see them cuddled up on the couch (something they do often) and the waterworks will let loose. The simplest love you mommy, or the thought of her going to preschool next year will send me over the edge. Heck seeing other people’s photos of siblings together makes me tear up – I’m hanging by a string here. 🙂

Obsessions/Cravings? Nothing crazy has set in recently. I eat when I’m hungry which is becoming more often, some days I will want salt… and some days I’ll eat all things sugar, nothing consistently is overtaking my diet.
What I’m most looking forward to this week: Easter is this coming weekend and will be filled with family activities and events, but after this weekend we are mostly open which excites me. I am looking forward to having some days spent as a family of 3 and enjoying simply playing together before we have a newborn in the house again.
What I miss the most: Around this time is when I start to miss my closet full of clothes. Nothing fits and all I want to do is go shopping for clothes that make me feel good… but who wants to spend money when I know I will only have 7 more weeks with this body. So I save the money and rock the same black legging look every day.
Workouts: With the nicer weather we have been getting back into our 3.5 mile loop. So between jogging and walking – mostly walking this time around we are getting out every day we can. I’m also trying to get in 3x a week of a simple weight routine to keep the muscles moving.
Also with the nicer weather Lottie and I have been spending all day outside, so that is a workout in itself. Running after her at the playground and keeping up with her energy is exhausting!
Sleep: As expected in your final 7 weeks. Not much has changed since my last update.
Movement: It’s obvious this baby is running out of room in there. I’m feeling lots of limbs everywhere. With Lottie I felt a lot of movement and hiccups and wiggles but not body parts. This baby is kicking and punching me in every direction but I’ve only gotten a few case of hiccups thankfully
Symptoms: Heartburn is new. I never had heartburn with Lottie and the last few nights ive gone to bed with heartburn. Not fun.
