I haven’t done a pregnancy update yet because I’ve been running after a toddler nonstop, and at the end of the day my brain is usually too fried to put a sentence together. But, I don’t want to miss out on recording this pregnancy, so let’s do this!
So much has happened in the last 18 weeks. Halloween, Thanksgiving, my husband turning 30, birthdays, vacations and now we are planning for my 30th in a few days and Christmas a few days later! Now in the second trimester I maybe feel as if I have more energy? But any energy I feel like I do have is quickly zapped by my wonderful 17 month old.
This second pregnancy is already so much more enjoyable than the first, mainly because I don’t feel any stress or anxiety or uncertainty. I don’t spend every night on my phone Googling ridiculous questions about how a baby is born and what to do with them after the fact. There is a calm in knowing what is coming and I am enjoying this stage of pregnancy!
In terms of nesting, I feel a strong urge to get Lottie’s big girl room set up for her and her moved in before baby comes, but less of a nesting urge to get the nursery ready. Since we aren’t finding out the gender I don’t have a lot of decorating to do in there, and I know from experience how little tiny babies need.
Size of Baby E: Sweet potato size
Best moment of the week: We had a baby appointment this week and as always, hearing the little beating heart was the best part of the week. Also hearing Lottie learn her new word “poop” was pretty entertaining. 🙂
Obsessions/Cravings? No specific food cravings, just getting hungrier. On our cruise last week I definitely didn’t restrict myself from enjoying the multiple dessert options at the end of every meal. I’ve been craving all of the things that I know I can’t have such as cold deli turkey, bacon, raw tuna, hot tubs etc. I guess you always want what you aren’t supposed to have.
What I’m most looking forward to this week: We leave Saturday for Chicago! We are celebrating my 30th (yikes!) birthday with my bestie in the city. I love all things comedy, so we are going to second city and out to a fun dinner, it will probably be very low-key compared to most everyone’s “dirty 30” parties, but it is exactly what this mama needs!
What I miss the most: Sleep. and I think I’m going to miss sleep for many years to come. With my first pregnancy I could nap every day for at least an hour (and i did!), with this one, when Lottie naps I go into productivity mode and start knocking off things from my to do list and finishing work. It’s amazing how much you can get done when you focus and put your mind to it, but it doesn’t leave a lot of time for sleep.
Workouts: Thanks to our new basement gym I’ve been rowing and using our TRX every other day. The weather has been in the 50s recently (In December!) so I’ve been getting out with Lottie and running around which leaves my heart racing now a days.
Sleep: See above. What I miss the most.
Movement: The first kicks! I started feeling tiny miniscule kicks on the cruise but part of me thought I was crazy. A few days later after dinner I felt stronger kicks, so strong I thought Josh might be able to feel them too and validate my crazy. He did! So at 17 weeks this baby started moving and kicking up a storm!
Symptoms: I have an unusually large amount of snot. I know, sexy right? It’s not just a cold, my body is simply out doing itself in how much snot it can make. Other than my super snot going on, this pregnancy has been mostly symptom free up until this point. My headaches haven’t been as bas as the first, my sleep is as expected for a pregnant woman and I’m not having the crazy dreams I was having at this point last year.
As always I am planning a trip in late January, early February for my babymoon – any suggestions? Where did you jetset to on your last trip before baby?
